Mrs. Gwendolyn Washington Robinson, 57 of Raleigh, NC formerly of St. Pauls, NC peacefully passed on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.  Graveside services will be Saturday, July 18, 2020 .  Barbee Chapel Harvest Word Church Cemetery, 7217 Kepley Rd., Chapel Hill, NC  27517 at 11:00 am.  Bishop Hatley and Apostle Stencil, Officiating.  Viewing:  Friday,  1:00 pm- 4:00 pm at the Funeral Home Chapel.

During the early hours of July 15, 2020, one of God's most precious gifts was called to her final place of rest.  Gwendolyn W. Robinson passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gwendolyn was born to Clinton and Katie Washington on October 13, 1962 in St. Pauls, NC, she was the third of seven children.  Gwen grew up in St. Pauls where she attended St. Pauls Elementary School, St. Pauls Jr. High and graduated with honors from St. Pauls High School.  She briefly attended NC State School of Engineering and later obtained her degree from Strayer University.  Gwen also earned degrees from the Safe Haven Interdenominational Bible College.  Gwen valued education and was passionate about continuing to learn.

Gwen was united in holy matrimony to her high school sweetheart Willie Robinson on July 4, 1987.  To this union two beautiful children were born, Bianca R. Ndiaye (Abe) and Joshua William Robinson.  She retired from the Secretary of State of North Carolina after 30 years of service on January 27, 2015.  Gwen later went on to work in the HR department with Target Corp. and was most recently employed at Cameron Village library as a part time Library Assistant.

She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother-Gwen will be deeply missed.  She enjoyed any event that allowed family members to be together.

Gwen loved to travel and looked for any opportunity to go on a trip.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clinton Washington, Sr., and older brother Carlton.  She leaves to cherish her memories her Husband, Willie Robinson (Raleigh, NC); Her daughter, Bianca R. Ndiaye (Abe), and her son Joshua W. Robinson; her Mother, Katie Washington of Chapel Hill, NC; Her siblings Jackie Washington of Raleigh, NC; Clinton Washington, Jr. (Crystal) of Spring Hope, NC; Gabriel Washington (Satella) of St. Pauls, NC; Minnie Goins (Ted) of Chapel Hill, NC and Bryan Washington of St. Pauls, NC; Mother-in-law, Shirley Robinson of St. Pauls, NC; father-in-law, Robert Robinson of St. Pauls, NC; three sisters-in-law, Regina (Marvin) Purcell of Hope Mills, NC; Doris (Samuel) Melvin of St. Pauls, NC; Alice (Ronnie) Harris of Wake Forest, NC; two brothers-in-law Barry Robinson of St. Pauls, NC and Kip (Cynthia) Robinson of St. Pauls, NC.
