Mr. James Willis, Sr. Obituary

Mr. James Alton Willis, 66 of St. Pauls peacefully passed on Monday, October 5, 2020.  Graveside Service will be Friday, October 9, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Lesane Cemetery, 318 Suggs Taylor Rd., Dublin, NC.   Rev. Dr. Otis McMillan, Eulogy and Pastor Garrett Lloyd, Officiating.  Viewing: Thursday 1:00 - 6:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. James Alton Willis, Sr. (Bo) was born on July 31, 1954 to the late Alton and Josephine Lewis Willis in Bladen County.  James ended his fight on October 5, 2020 at 4:14 am at Genesis Pembroke Center in Pembroke, NC.

James was preceded in death by his son James Jamon Alton Harris, his father Alton Willis, his mother Josephine Lewis Willis, three brothers; Willie Eugene Willis, Sander Andrew Willis and Carvin Willis and one sister-in-law; Sarah Harris Epps.

James received his education in the Bladen County School System.  He worked deligently as a farmer.  He secured employment as a factory worker, truck driver, also with McKoy & Sons Mortuary.  

In his free time, he really loved for his oldest daughter and son-in-law to take him fishing, it brought him great pleasure.  He was also loved to hear his youngest daughter sing.  The joy of his heart were his granddaughters.  They would always put a smile on his face.

James received Christ at an early age and became a member of Bakers Creek AME Zion Church in Dublin, NC where he soon became a drum player.  James met and married his devoted wife formerly Patricia Ann harris after which he became a dedicated member of the male chorus at Little Marsh Chapel in St. Pauls, NC and later a faithful church member at Franklin Chapel in Laurinburg, NC and to this union three children were born, one son and two daughters, James and Patricia were married for 40 years.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories; his loving wife, Chief Apostle Rev. Dr. Patricia Harris Willis, two daughters Patrice Willis Lewis, her husband Daniel LaRon Lewis who gave James the nickname Cool Metal of St. Pauls, NC, Latifah Shanetta Willis of  the home, one son James Alton Willis, Jr. of Kinston, NC, on sister, Lucy McNair (Terry) of Lumberton, NC, four granddaughters; Eboni Lewis, Evion'a Lewis, Egypt Lewis and Soleil Willis, seven brother-in-laws; David Harris, Jr. (Brenda), Charles Harris, John Harris (Regina), Arthur Harris (Terri), Rufus Harris (Rosalee), Glenn Harris (Melissa), James Epps, seven sister-in-laws; Hazel McGirt (Frank), Annie Pope (Lorenzo), Brenda Harris, Sarah Cox (Rodney), Linda Singletary (Carlos), Kate Graham (Chauncey), Copernicus Marshall (Clifton).  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
