William Lamont Ray

Mr. William Lamont Ray, 41 of St. Pauls, N.C. passed on September 11, 2018.  Visitation will be Friday, September 21, 2018 from 1-6 pm.  Funeral services will be Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Little Marsh Chapel AME Zion Church, 301 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, St. Pauls, NC  28384.  Reverand Paul A. William Lamont Ray, affectionately known to most as "Mont" was born April 8, 1977 to Bernard Stewart and Wanda Ray and departed this life on September 11, 2018.  Lamont grew up in St. Pauls, North Carolina and graduated from St. Pauls High School.

While his long battle with cancer prevented him from doing the physical work of his younger days, most will remember him from coaching youth football and basketball teams in the community.

Lamont grew up in the church and accepted Christ as a teenager.  Fatherhood prompted him to rededicate his life to Christ as an adult.  As such, he served as a member of the Male Chorus and the Sons of Varick at Little Marsh Chapel AME Zion Church.

Many will remember his love for the Lord, easy going nature and unbreakable spirit.  He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving son, William Laquan Ray; his parents, Bernard Stewart and Wanda Ray; his grandmother, Geneva Ray; his siblings, Kevin Ray, Scoville Stewart (Midesha Pillay-Stewart), Shante Stewart and Lawanda Woods (William); an aunt, Cynthia Burden; a nephew, Pace Stewart; two nieces, Kiyah Ray and Kaylah Stewart, aunts uncles and a host of cousins, church family and friends.
