On September 4th, 2025, Veola Lewis Pitt transitioned to the ancestral realm. She leaves behind: her older sister, Ellen Rogers of Bradenton, FL; two daughters, Reauchean McMillan of Lumberton, NC and Nise Robinson of Parkton, NC; six grandchildren Larissa Robinson, Katiya Robinson, Jazmin Perry, Jamara McMillan, JeShawna Wholley, Jakalia Brown; nine great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren to continue her legacy and honor her memory. Born and raised in Saint Pauls, NC, Veola lived a full life. She left the south to head north as a young lady and retired from the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area Transit Authority after 25 years of service. Anyone who knew Veola knows she was a no-nonsense kind of woman. She was a fierce and courageous woman that spoke her mind and walked her own path. When asked what she wished for the future generation she replied "I wish that every kid would use what God gave them. You use your mind. That's all I ever wanted. Don't let nobody lead you nowhere." We honor Veola Pitts' legacy and reminder that we are all blessed with gifts from God, and it is up to us to lead the way of our own lives. May her spirit rest in peace. Visitation for Veola will be September 19, 2025, Mckoy and Sons Mortuary, 1:00pm-5:00pm Funeral Service, Saturday, September 20,2025, Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 3:00pm.
