Sadie Mae Hurley 81, of Fayetteville, NC was born into this earthly life on August 1,1943 in St. Pauls, NC to the late Jonas R Harrell and late Flora Glover Harrell. She was married to the late John Hurley, Jr. for 30 years. Sadie attended Robeson County Schools and graduated from Eastside High School in 1962 in St. Pauls, NC.
At an early age she confessed to Christ and joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in St. Pauls, NC. After graduating from High School she worked at Lumberton Hospital for a short time. She joined New Light Holy Church, she was baptized and served as a mother of the church for many years. When she returned to North Carolina, she rejoined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully. She was a loving, kind person and friendly to whomever she would meet.
Sadie leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters: Flora McCormick of Fayetteville, NC. Gwendolyn Hurley (Tanisla) of Newark, NJ, Wanda Hurley (Aubrey) of Elizabeth, NJ and one grandson Timothy McCormick of Fayetteville. Two stepsons: Johnnie Hurley of Parkton, NC and Glad Hurley of NJ. Step Daughter: Annette Hurley of Lumberton NC. Five sisters: Lula Shaw (Wilson) of St. Pauls, NC, Hollie Butler of Gray's Creek, NC, Ann Hayes of Wake Forest, NC Myrtle Harrell of Newark, NJ, Rosette Jones (James) of Tar Heel, NC, and one brother: Henry L. Harrell (Mable) of St. Pauls, NC. Preceded in death are four sisters and two brothers.
