Mrs. Kathleen Johnson, 88 of Shannon, NC peacefully passed on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 2:00 pm at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 170 New Bethel Church Rd., St. Pauls, NC. Viewing: Monday 1-6 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery, 16737 NC-71, Shannon, NC.
Kathleen McNair Johnson was born April, 14, 1933 in Parkton, North Carolina to the late Neill Sinclair and Emma Sinclair. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Hatcher's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Parkton, North Carolina. Later she became a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Rex, North Carolina and remained an active and loyal member. She was a member the Usher Board, the Mission Choir, the Senior Choir, Pastor's Aid Ministry, The Ladies Home Mission, and a member of the Kitchen Committee for many years.
Kathleen was united in holy matrimony to Daniel Ruth Johnson on January 6, 1951. To this union nine children were born. They were married for 53 years at the time of his passing on July 2, 2004. After many years as a homemaker, Kathleen went to work for Burlington Industries in St. Pauls, North Carolina. She remained there until retirement after 25 years of service.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel R. Johnson; her son, Grady Johnson; her brother, Joe Lewis Sinclair and her son-in-law, Lacy Shaw.
Kathleen leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Velma R. Shaw od Rex, North Carolina, Berlinda Jackson (Ronald) of Parkton, North Carolina, Bonnie Ray of Parkton, North Carolina, Robert Johnson (Pearl) of Portsmouth, Virginia, Larry Johnson of Rex, North Carolina, Willie Alan Johnson, Rex North Carolina, Henry Patricia Johnson of Woodbridge, Virginia and Jeffrey (Sherrie) of Roseboro, North Carolina; Kathleen is survived by 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Helen Morrison (Paul) of Red Springs, North Carolina and Deloise Johnson of Buffalo, New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
