Mrs. Essie Mae McNair Mack, 93 of St. Pauls peacefully passed on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Graveside services will be Sunday, December 13, 2020 at 1:00 PM at McGill Cemetery, Wagram, North Carolina. Viewing will be held Saturday 1:00 - 6:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Essie Mae Mack, daughter of the late Edward McLean and the late Nora McNair was born on October 27, 1927 in Raeford, NC. She entered into the light and joy of her Lord on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, joining her husband, Nezer Mack, Sr. and sons Garvester Mack and Willie Mack (Bonnie), Pervis Mack (grandson), Breann Nicholson (great granddaughter), and her many siblings Essie Mae met, fell in love with and married Nezer on February 18, 1945. Essie Mae had eight children: Mary Jones (Anthony Jones); Robert (Bobby) Mack; Nezer Mack, Jr.; John Mack; Dortha (Dot) Mack; and Venus Speight (Joseph) Chaisson); 20 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, family and friends. Essie Mae was a loving wife and mother. She was educated in Hoke County Public Schools. Essie Mae farmed with her husband and family for much of her young adult life. She later worked in a sewing factory in St. Pauls and Lumberton, NC and retired in 1980. Left to cherish precious memories of he life are her children: sisters, Devone McLean of Raeford, NC and Pearl Brickhouse of Chesapeake, VA., grandchildren; Antoinette Jones, Anthony Jones, Jr., Terence Jones, Renee Harrell. Antonio Harrell, Michael Harrell, Yvette Moore, Michelle Davis, Monica Cooper, Maranda Mack, Trellis Mack, Yulonda Smith, Chris Watson, Eric Speight, Tomeka LaRue, Wilton Mack, Aquilla Mack, Jaylen Mack, and a slew of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Essie Mae was baptized at an early age in Raeford, NC. She was a member of First Baptist in St. Pauls,, NC. Essie Mae loved listening to gospel music and watching baseball. Like her husband she was a Atlanta Braves fan. As a relatively young grandmother, Essie Mae enjoyed racing her grandkids and having fun. She baked delicious coconut cakes and various pies and cobblers. Essie Mae is a beloved grandmother to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
