Obituary

Mrs. Aliene Wright, 80 of St. Pauls, NC peacefully passed on Thursday, March 11, 2021.  Graveside services will be Friday, March 19, 2021 at 3:00 pm at McKinnon Cemetery, McKinnon Lane, St. Pauls, NC.  Visitation:  Thursday 1:00 - 6:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel..  The Family will receive family and friends at 461 N. Grayce St., St. Pauls, N.C..

Aliene Cogdell Wright, daughter of the late William Thomas and Alpha Omege Currie Cogdell, was born August 11, 1940, in Lumberton, North Carolina.  On March 11, 2021.  God needed an addition angel in Heaven therefore, he specifically chose Aliene to come home.

At an early age, Aliene accepted Christ and was baptized at First Missionary Baptist Church of St. Pauls, North Carolina.  She appreciated the word of God and faithfully attended Sunday Services to learn more of his word.  Aliene graduated from East Side High School, a formerly segregated  school system in St. Pauls.  She faced many obstacies but never lost sight of her desire to receive an education.

Aliene met the love of her life Richard Nathaniel Wright, they later married and started their family.  Their union was blessed with children who truly contributed to their joy and made their house a happy home.  Aliene enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking and baking.  A loving supportive and dedicated mother that always placed her family and children first.  Aliene was well known in her community.  She gave freely of her time to help guide and encourage anyone in need.

Aliene was preceded in death by her husband, Richard N. Wright, two sons, Juan Jose "Poncho" Wright, Jeffery Nadino Wright and her parents, William and Alpha Cogdell.

Left to cherish her memory are four sons, Jerry Wright, St. Pauls, NC, Justin (Patricia) Wright of Fayetteville, NC, Richard Wright, Jr. of Mount Holly, NJ, Rod Wright of Lorton, VA.; four daughters, Jennifer and Stacy Wright of St. Pauls, NC, Hope (Torrance) Brown of Baton Rouge, LA, Kristen Wright of Fayetteville, NC, one step-daughter, Connie White of Natchez, MS, one godson; Jermaine Gray; one goddaughter, Rachel Daniels; two sisters; Ella Lewis and Willie Cogdell both of St. Pauls, NC; one brother, Thomas Cogdell of St. Pauls, NC. three sisters-in-laws, Deborah Cogdell of Brooklyn, NY, Gladys Fleming of Queens, NY and Lillie B. Fleming of Natchez, MS, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grand children, a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and friends, including special riends; Selma Gerald, Catherine Lewis and Kathy Lilly.
