Mr. Lonnie Currie, 73 of St. Pauls peacefully passed on Monday, January 18, 2021. Graveside service will be Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Garden of Faith Cemetery,5190 N. Fayetteville Rd., Lumberton, NC 28360. Viewing: Friday 1:00 - 6:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Lonnie Verdell Currie, the son of the late Nathaniel and Vergie McKinnon Currie was born June 25, 1947 in Robeson County, North Carolina. He departed this life on Monday, January 18, 2021.
Lonnie was educated in the Public Schools of Robeson County. Graduating from Eastside High Schools, St. Pauls, North Carolina in 1966. Lonnie joined the United States Army, serving his county until 1971. He was employed by DuPont-Fayetteville Works Plant until retiring.
Lonnie was united in Holy Matrimony to Marva Jean Lewis on July 1, 1973. In this union they were blessed with one son, Eric Sean Currie and one daughter, Crystal S. Currie.
Under the guidance of his parents, Lonnie grew up in the Little Marsh Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, St. Pauls, North Carolina. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and served faithfully in his local church in several areas of church ministry. Areas included but not limited to: Church Finance Committee, Preacher Steward for more than twenty years, member of the LMC Male Chorus, member of the Chancellor Choir, member of the Ushers Board, member of the Senior Choir, Church Van Driver and member of the Mighty Men of Valor Sunday School Class.
Lonnie was full of life. To know Lonnie was to be assured of kindness in doing things for others without the expectation of anything in return. The integrity of character to do the right thing, exuding enough self control to make good decisions on behalf of the church and others regardless of the cost to himself.
He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Sean.
Loved ones left to cherish his fond memory include: his wife, Marva Jean Currie; one daughter, Crystal S. Currie of Augusta, Georgia; one granddaughter, Tamia C. Currie of Augusta, Georgia; siblings, Harrison Currie (Alice) and Wilbert Currie of Washington, DC; one sister, Carolyn Currie Nettles of Pittsboro, NC; sister-in-law, Brenda Stephens of Maryland; brothers-in-law, Cecil Lewis and Donnell Lewis (Bernice) of Bladenboro, NC; special friends, James Rouse, Angus Maynor, Ray Roberts, Jimmy Simpson, Curtis Ray, Cedric Thompson and Walter Ray; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends and his LMC church family.
