Mr. Larry Darnell McKoy

Mr. Larry Darnell McKoy, 68 of Lumber Bridge, NC peacefully passed on Sunday, January10, 2021.  Graveside service will be Friday, January 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. John Cemetery, 16737 NC 71 Hwy. N., Shannon, NC.  Viewing: Thursday 1:00 - 6:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel. 

Larry Darnell McKoy was born August 29, 1952 to the late Dorothy L. McKoy in Rex, North Carolina.  He departed this earthly life on January 10, 2021.

Larry Moved to Newark, New Jersey at an early age where he attended the public schools and went on to received an Associates Degree in Computer Programming from Essex County College

Larry McKoy moved back to North Carolina in 1991 with his wife and two sons.

Bro. McKoy became a member of Hatchers Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Parkton, North Carolina shortly after returning back to North Carolina.  Bro. McKoy was a faithful member and he served on many church boards to include: Chairman of Trustee Board, President of Lay Council, Superintendent of Sunday School, Audio Ministry, Sunday School Teacher and Steward Board.  Bro. McKoy loved our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and he enjoyed working in the church.

Larry joined the United States Army in 1975 and served his county for three years.  Larry worked for Hatfield Wire and Cable for ten years.  He then pursued a career with the United States Postal Service where he worked for thirty-five (35) years and retired in 2019.  Bro. McKoy was a dedicated family man and President of the McKoy Family Reunion.

Preceding him in death are: his mother, Dorothy McKoy Eatford; sister, Martha McKoy; grandparents, Leroy and Louise McKoy and a niece Kinda McKoy.

Bro. McKoy leaves to cherish: his wife, Evelyn McKoy; four sons, Rayford Mark of New Jersey, Shawn Mark of Philadelphia, Lamin D. McKoy and Rashad O. McKoy both of North Carolina; a niece, Sabrina (Todd) McKoy of New Jersey; nephew, Erick (Latasha) McKoy of Philadelphia; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Clark of Georgia; brother-in-law, Thadis Davis of New Jersey; three aunts, Mary L. Mckoy, Ola M. Johnson and Rosetta Moore all of North Carolina; 22 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren; a special cousin, Juanita (Joe) Barr of New Jersey; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
