Mr. Jacob Wesley Rhodes, 58 of St. Pauls, NC peacefully passed on April 13, 2021. Graveside service will be Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Goodman Cemetery, Grover Rd., Tar Heel, NC Viewing: Friday 1:00 - 8:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive family and friends at 325 Maple Leaf Drive, St. Pauls, NC.
Jacob Wesley Rhodes was born January 6, 1963 in Robeson County, North Carolina. He was one of twelve (12) children born to the late Samuel David Rhodes, Sr. and Vinetta Robinson Rhodes.
Jacob received his primary education at Plain View School, attended Tar Heel High School and graduated from McKinley Technology High School in Washington, DC. He received a Bachelor of Science in Finance at Salisbury University of Albuquerque, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Jacob Wesley was generous friend and caring person who continuously gave freely his time and talents. He met the Colvin family of Tar Heel, North Carolina as a child and became brothers with Sam Colvin. The bond was broken on April 13, 2021. Sam and Jacob Wesley were to go on to be life long friends and business partners in many ventures. Jacob developed and operated his Saint Pauls Sea Food and Transportation company with the help and advice of Sam and the Colvin brothers. Jacob financial business was the foundation for many successes. Jacob was the "Taxman".
Jacob Wesley never became a biological parent but his life was filled with love of children, Karen, Kevin, Maurice, Michael, Cheryl, Vernita, Mark, Rylinda, Katrina, Jason, Charles, Dwayne, Lore, David, Ashley, Amanda, Robert, Mikhal, Ryan, Taylor, Loren, Logen, Love, Alex, Aaron, Raylor, K. Jordan, Kevin F. and Ivy. His love for children had no limits as he taught and lectured as though he was the parent. His love was returned tenfold. He especially loved and cherished his stepson, Shawn Tatum of White Oak, North Carolina.
Jacob accepted Christ at an early age at his Ancestral Family Church and joined Second New Light Church in Tar Heel, North Carolina. Jacob was guided in Christ by his parents and the Council, Reigelwood, Saint Pauls's, White Oak, Tar Heel and Carvers Creek Communities and the Carve Creek A.M.E. Church and Tabernacle True Believers Church, Communities laden with ancestors traced back to the seventeen hundreds. Myriads of nieces, nephews and cousins will continuously profess the multitude of expressions and lesson of "Uncle Wesley".
He was preceded in death by: his wives, Elizabeth Tatum Rhodes and Angela Parks; infant brother, Abraham; brothers, Samuel David Rhodes, Jr., Zyron Rhodes and Kenneth Rhodes; sisters, Violet Carrington, Hoyte, Alma Rhodes King and Rhodora Rhodes Davis.
To carry on his legacy he leaves: his loving fiance'e, Anna Lucas; grandson, Gikar whom he cherished; sisters, Bonita N. Rhodes and Alice R. Jones; brothers, Dr. Robert Rhodes of Hyattsville, Maryland and Commissioner Edwards Rhodes of Washington, DC.
