On April 27, 2023, Mattie peacefully passed away. She was born to Charlie and Lula Davis Glover on June 3, 1933 in St Pauls, North  Carolina. She was the youngest of fourteen siblings. She will always  be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering  dedication to her family and friends. She was truly a woman of  determination; she went back to school and received her high school  diploma in 1983. She was a dedicated worker to Burlington Industries  with over 40 years of service.

She enjoyed good food, socializing, going to the movies and  participating in senior activities with friends. Mattie had a wonderful  smile and an infectious laugh that could light up a room.

She served as a journalist for the local newspapers, The Robesonian and  The St. Pauls Review, sending in articles on the many accolades and  accomplishments of her family. On Sunday mornings she would call  announcements into the Red Springs radio station, Powerhouse 1160  - WYDU with birthdays, anniversaries, and community events. She  took pride in being a proud mother, grandmother, great grandmother,  and aunt. Mattie was a wonderful homemaker, cook and found great  delight in loving on all her children and grandchildren.
