Mr. John Scurlock, 70 of Lumber Bridge peacefully passed on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. Funeral services will be Sunday, March 1, 2020, 3:00 pm at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 170 New Bethel Church Rd., St. Pauls, NC. Viewing will be Saturday, 1-6 pm at the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial: McKinnon Cemetery, St. Pauls, NC. The family will receive family and friends at 1749 Lombardy Village Rd., Lumber Bridge, NC.
On Wednesday, February 26, 2020 God sent one of his angels to visit Mr. John Mack "Mule" Scurlock and bring him home. John was born December 17, 1949 to the late James Archie Scurlock and Margaret McLean Scurlock.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Archie and Margaret Scurlock, brothers, James Jr. McLean and Robert Lee Scurlock.
John was employed at Croft Metals before retiring. He spent the majority of his life working on lawnmower. Everyone called him "Mr. Fix-It Man". There was never a time you'd go to Lumber Bridge and not see Johnny Mack at the Thrift Store..
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Evelyn, two daughters, Sara L. Williams (Ronald) of St. Pauls, NC and Kathy Scurlock of the home; one son, Johnny Scurlock of the home; six sisters, Annie Margaret Scurlock of Ohio, Virginia Scurlock of Lumber Bridge, NC, Mary Scurlock of Lumber Bridge, NC, Deloise Matos of Fuquay, NC, Brenda Scurlock of Lumber, Bridge, NC and Angela Bruton (Leon) of Lumber Bridge, NC; four brothers, Willie McLean (Doris) of Raeford, NC, Harley Scurlock of Ohio, William Henry Scurlock of Lumber Bridge, NC and Isaiah Scurlock of Lumber Bridge, NC; grandchildren, Ronald Shakeim Williams, Tevin Dayshawn Williams, Samiaya Danyelle Williams and Brea Lashea Fox, Shandera Anderson, Ashely Anderson, Rusherner Anderson, Ajliu Fox, Khandaneh Fox and Elgin Fox; mother-in-law, Beatrica Murphy of Winston Salem, NC; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Dixson, Betty L. Hocker both of Red Springs, NC, Patricia Lofton of Wilmington, NC, Norma G. Murphy of Virginia and Annie Leggett of Red Springs, NC; and a host of nieces and nephews.
