Hattie Jane Weaks, 90, was born on April 14, 1934, in Robeson County, North Carolina to the late John J. Weaks and Sislane Kelly Weaks. On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, Hattie Jane transitioned to her eternal rest.
She confessed Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church of Parkton, North Carolina. She worked in the church by singing on the choir.
Hattie Jane attended Robeson County School. She graduated from Oak Ridge High School in Lumber Bridge, North Carolina. Upon graduating, she made her home in Washington, D.C. She continued her education by going to Secretary School. Upon completion, she worked in a doctor’s office where she later retired.
She continued living in Washington, D.C. until her health started to decline. She moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina and resided with her sister, Willie Mae Williams. Later, she resided at Whispering Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center until her death.
Hattie Jane was a good and kind person. Her passion was reading. In her own and loving way, she would tell you exactly what she wanted you to know.
Hattie Jane was the oldest of 14 children, in which six preceded her in death: brothers, Jack, Johnny and Thomas Weaks; sisters, Joann Weaks, Jennie Wilkerson and Annie Ruth Butler.
Hattie Jane leaves to cherish her memories: seven sisters, Betty Ann Snow of Hyattsville, Maryland, Elizabeth Bennett, Mary Helen Gardner of Parkton, North Carolina, Willie Mae Weaks Williams, Alberta Murphy (Douglas), Gladys Lee and Deloise Robinson (Elder Ron) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Yvonne Weaks of Lumber Bridge, North Carolina and Eaner Weaks of Columbia, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
