Rev. George Preston Malone, 88, of St. Pauls N.C transitioned from his earthly home, to his heavenly home on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. He was born on September 24, 1935 to the late James Preston Malone and Maggie Bell (Willis) Malone, in the city of Fayetteville, North Carolina located in Cumberland County. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers. Reverend Malone, also known as Bubba by his siblings, graduated from E. E. Smith High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina, in 1955.
Reverend Malone love to cook and work several jobs as a cook before going on to be employed with the Federal Government, serving as a cashier. He was employed for 31 years with the Federal Government and received many awards for he was well liked as cashier and would tell the family many stories about how his day went while serving customers in his line. Reverend Malone before he became a man of the cloth, love the Lord. He ministry began in his home as the family would often have home bible study. In his early years he was a member of Luke A.M.E. Church of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Later in life when he would move to Saint Pauls, North Carolina, where he attended Shiloh Baptist Church, and then First Baptist Missionary church. He served in various positions, from Adult Sunday School Teacher, Trustee, Financial Secretary, Deacon, Minister, Associate Pastor. He also served in the Union Baptist Association on several committees at one point or another: Laymen’s League Association, and as Director of Baptist Training Union, President of District Baptist Training Union, Vice President of the Laymen’s League Devotion Committee. His motto was READY, WILLING and ABLE! He also was a member of Saint Paul’s Masonic Lodge # 354.
He was the husband of the late Carrie Juanita (Sinclair) Malone. Out of this union was born five children, four boys: George, Jr, Charles, John and William and one girl: Dorothy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: James T Malone and Joeseph Malone; Sisters: Mary (Malone) Holmes, Hattie L. (Malone) Cevis, Ora Bell (Malone) Mosley, and Christine (Malone) McNair; and son Charles Edward Malone.
He is survived by four of his children: George, Jr. (wife Ruby), Dorothy, John and William, (wife Cassadra). He has a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Two special nieces, Monica Fuller Goodwin and Shirley Powell who he nurtured in the ministry of the Gospel to become the pastor of Malone Chapel Missionary Church.
