Effie Carol Richardson Chadwick was born in Bladen County on March 16, 1946 to the late James & Annie L. Richardson.
She graduated from Bladen Central High School. Soon after, she moved to New Jersey where she began her 40 plus year career in restaurant management. She then moved to New York and it was there that she met and married her husband of 49 years, Thomas Chadwick. Effie served as an active and faithful member of St. Laurence Church in Brooklyn for over 30 years. She was also an avid member of the Laurentian Guild of Brooklyn, New York.
After retirement, she moved back home to North Carolina in December of 2012. She became an active member of Faith Tabernacle serving in the Nursery. She was affectionately known as “The Cake Lady” because of her delicious pound cakes.
Effie loved knitting, crocheting and gardening and would grow all kinds of fruits and vegetables. She also loved flowers and most of all loved bragging on her 16 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Laura Ann Jones Bellamy, and her husband Thomas Chadwick.
