Mrs. Dorethea "Pat" Whitted, 71 of Tar Heel, NC peacefully passed on Monday, January 6, 2020. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 12, 2020, 1:00 pm at Miller's Chapel United Church, 2297 NC 20 Hwy., St. Pauls, NC. Viewing: Saturday 1:00 - 6:00 pm. Burial: Miller's Chapel Cemetery, St. Pauls, NC. The family will receive friends and family at 280 Grimes-Singletary Rd., Tar Heel, NC 28392.
Doretha "Pat" Rozier Whitted was born, March 20, 1948 to the late James F. Rozier and Minnie M. Rozier. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Jimmy Whitted on Dec. 24,1968 in Dillion, SC. She was preceded in death by four brothers: William, James "JT", Sherman, Herman and one sister; Myrtle King.
On Monday, January 6, 2020 our Heavenly Father called her name and she answewed peacefully as she went from earthly labor to receive her heavenly reward.
She was a graduate of Bladen Central High School in 1968, She was employed at Fatteville Manufacturer as a seamstress for many years..
At an early age, she confessed Christ and joined Millers Chapel UMC. In September of 1993. She accepted the call into ministry and was ordained as a minister of the gospel. She served in various roles of the her local church on district and state level of United Methodist Church. Doretha service went beyond the walls of her church and the community, as a Plain View Community Organizer, Girl/Boy Scout Leader, Share Food Pantry Member and numerous other affiliations. With the Love for family and her church, she loved music and singing. She and her husband travel for many years with the youth singing and leading them to Christ. For fifty years, she served as the secretary of the Highway Gospel Time Singing Union.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two sisters, Evang. Ella Priest (Elder Joe), Priscilla Rozier; four brothers; Noah Rozier, Wallace Rozier (Regina), Lendard Rozier (Brenda) and Scotty (Mamie), four sister-in-laws, Pauline Rozier, Gloria Whitted, Eldress Lydia Grimes, Inez Whitted, one special nephew of the home, Jerome Purdie, Jr.; host of nieces and nephews, relatives, god-children and special friends.
