Brenda Humphrey Obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Brenda L Humphrey, 62 ,formerly of St.Pauls NC.  Brenda L. Humphrey was born on March 26, 1964, to the late Leon and Vistula Humphrey. She peacefully departed her earthly home on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, after having been surrounded by her loving son and siblings.

At an early age, Brenda accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life, she became a member of Cascade Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, where she faithfully served and enjoyed singing in the choir.

Brenda graduated from St. Pauls High School in 1982. Following graduation, she relocated to Paterson, New Jersey. After several years in New Jersey, her employment with Polaroid led her to Austell, Georgia. Upon leaving Polaroid, she joined MSC Industry Supply, where she dedicated more than 23 years of service. Brenda truly enjoyed her work and, through promotions within the organization, was afforded opportunities to travel, train others, and build lasting relationships with people from all walks of life.

While Brenda was committed to her career, the greatest joys of her life were her son, Christopher, and her grandson, Jaylen. It was nearly impossible to have a conversation with her without hearing about their latest accomplishments or being shown a video of Jaylen playing basketball. Her love and pride for them were evident in everything she did.

Brenda also cherished her family deeply. She loved traveling back to North Carolina for family dinners, reunions, special gatherings, or simply spending quality time with family and friends. Her presence brought warmth, laughter, and love wherever she went.

In 2014, Brenda received her first breast cancer diagnosis. Rather than allowing the disease to define her, she became apassionate advocate for breast cancer awareness. She encouraged her nieces and other women to prioritize their health and obtain regular mammograms. In recognition of her strength and advocacy, she was honored by the Atlanta Braves in 2017 as their Honorary Bat Girl.

For twelve years, Brenda courageously battled breast cancer. She faced every challenge with remarkable faith, strength, and determination. She never gave up hope, rarely complained, and consistently encouraged others—even during times when she herself needed encouragement. Her resilience and unwavering spirit inspired everyone who knew her.

Brenda leaves to cherish her precious memories: her beloved son, Christopher Humphrey; her cherished grandson, JaylenHumphrey; and Jaylen’s mother, Ashonda Humphrey. She is also survived by her loving siblings: Doris Everett, Benitha(Travis) Townsend, Leon Humphrey, Queen (Gene) Gerald, Howard Humphrey, Michael Robinson, and Wayne Ray.

She leaves behind nineteen nieces and nephews, twenty-five great-nieces and nephews, and eleven great-great-nieces andnephews. She is also survived by twelve aunts and uncles, a host of cousins, devoted friends, coworkers, support group members of Loving Arms Cancer Outreach and countless others whose lives were touched by her kindness, strength, and love.

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Gladys (Willie) Mack.

Though Brenda’s earthly journey has ended, her legacy of faith, courage, love, and perseverance will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
