Anna Evans Lucas was peacefully taken to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, surrounded by her son and family.
She was born on June 24, 1959, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Billy and Ernestine Evans. Her husband, Pete Lucas and sister, Patricia Gilmore preceded her in death.
Anna served God, community, and family. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She served as the Vice President of the Usher Board, Vice President of the Golden Delights, a member of the Young Adult and Adult Choir, the Dance Ministry, Ghee’s Christmas Cantata and the Program Committee.
Anna graduated from St. Pauls High School in 1977, where she was known as an outgoing and outspoken basketball and softball player. She attended Fayetteville State University and worked in industry at Converse and Len-How.
Anna leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Rodriguez Leondias Evans of Fayetteville, North Carolina; her brother, Billy Delane Evans of Charlotte, North Carolina; sisters, Cynthia Darlene Evans, Robin Delphine Johnson (Johnny) and Karen Evans Adkins (Brent) of St. Pauls, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, G’Kar Maynor of the home, Cameryn Evans, Mariah Kerarney, Dallas Evans of New York, Rashaud Evans, Omari McLean, Da’Kari Evans of Rex, North Carolina and Aubrey Evans of Fayetteville, North Carolina; one brother-in-law, Jerry Gilmore; best friend, Brenda Pone of Pennsylvania; two godchildren, KeShira Hale and DeShawn McBryde; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation is Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Mckoy and Sons Mortuary, 1:00pm-5:00pm
Homegoing Service is Friday, December 27, 2024 at Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, at 1:00pm
