According to God’s divine will, Alfred Lee Hanzy Jr. was born April 26, 1974 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center, Lumberton, North Carolina, to Frances J. Hanzy and the late Alfred Lee Hanzy Sr. On September 28, 2023, God called his son to glory.
Growing up Alfred aka Kat attended Mt. Zion Holiness Church of Saint Pauls, North Carolina. He also attended and graduated from Saint Pauls High School. Within his 50 years of joy, laughter, tears and memories he was blessed with five beautiful and well loved children. Kat was known for his humor, selflessness, love and the heart he had for others around him. Knowingly or unknowingly, he was not only a father, son, brother, grandfather or friend but he became that person within one’s life you needed most and will always be referred to as “Kooter Kat.”
Alfred Lee Hanzy Jr. was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Lee Hanzy Sr.; sister, Tre-ne Hanzy; grandson, Bryson McNair; two grandmothers, Ella Mae Jones and Loriena Hanzy; two grandfathers, Frank Jones and Elijah Hanzy.
Left to cherish his memories are: his mother, Frances Hanzy; three daughters, Khiera McNair, Aerin Ketterer and Azorie Hanzy; two sons, Keyonta Hanzy and Za’Noriy Hanzy; one sister, Keonnie (Marcus) Smith; two brothers, Christopher Hanzy and Kendrick Hanzy; three grandchildren; six nieces, eleven nephews, two great-nieces, three great-nephews and a host of classmates, family and friends. A special friend, Tekila (KeKe) McKoy.
