Jay Hunter, Jr.

Mr. Jay Hunter, Jr., 78, peacefully passed on September 11, 2019.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 1pm located at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 2917 East Great Marsh Church Rd. St. Pauls NC 28384.  Visitation will also be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 1pm to 6pm located at McKoy and Son Funeral Home.  Burial: King Cemetery in St. Pauls NC 28384. The family will receive family and friends at 1585 Martin Rd. St. Pauls NC 28384.  

Mr. Jay Hunter, Jr. was born on August 31, 1941 in Robeson County, North Carolina to the late J. Y. Hunter and Harriet Page Hunter.  He entered into rest on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at his home.

Jay accepted Christ at an early age and joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the choir for a short time.

Jay worked for Blue Construction Company as a Pipe Layer for a number of years until his health declined.

Jay was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Lorene McLean Hunter.  To this union two children were born.

He was preceded in death by his wife, LoreneMcLean Hunter; daughter, Carolyn Lorene Hunter; his brothers: Hector Charles, Bobby, James, Robert, and Thomas; sisters: Jessie Mae Hunter and Myrtle Hunter Taylor.

Memories of him will be forever cherished by his daughter: Sandra (Robert) Drake of Saint Pauls, NC; One granddaughter, Lasonya Yvette Hunter of Saint Pauls, NC; One great-grandson, Asaad Dubose of Georgia; His brother: Eugene Hunter of Alexandia, Virginia; two sisters: Katie Washington of Chapel Hill, NC and Mildred Hunter of Richmond, Virginia; two brothers-in-law; Donald McLean and K.C. (Delois) McLean of Saint Pauls, NC; four sisters-in-law: Betty McLean, Hackensack, NJ, Nadine McLean of Sumter, SC, Lynda (Clarence) Odom and Shelby (Nelson) Hawkins of Saint Pauls, NC; A special friend: Vada Sellers of Saint Pauls, NC and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
