Mr. Avery J. Scurlock passed on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 11, 2019, 3:00 pm at Clarks Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Tar Heel, NC. Visitation: Monday, June 10, 2019 from 1:00 - 6:00 pm. The family will receive family and friends at the Mother's home.
Avery Juwan Scurlock was born August 11, 1995 in Durham, North Carolina to Brenda Scurlock and the late Arthur Allen Jackson and departed this earthly life on June 5, 2019.
Avery was preceded in death by: his father, Arthur Allen Jackson; grandmother, Margaret Jane Scurlock; and grandfather, James Scurlock.
Avery attended Magnolia Elementary in Lumberton, North Carolina and Saint Pauls High School in St. Pauls, North Carolina. Avery was employed at Sears in Fayetteville Cross Creek Mall until it closed. Most of Avery's life was spent with loving family and friends. Avery was well known within his community and loved by all whom had the pleasure of his bright presence. He touched many lives and will be missed by all.
Avery leaves to cherish his memories: His mother, Brenda Scurlock (Edward) of Lumber Bridge, NC; five sisters, Kelia McNeill (Jarques) of Lumber Bridges, NC, Aaliyah, Khayah, Tyionna and Cara Jackson all of Durham, NC; great grandmother; Mazrine Jackson of Durham, NC; one god mother, Debora Galloway of Raeford, NC; one nephew, Messiah Jackson of Durham, NC; six aunts, Deloise Matos of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Virginia Scurlock, Angela Bruton (Leon), Mary Scurlock of Lumber Bridge, NC; Annie Scurlock of Englewood, OH and Rosalyn Jackson of Durham, NC; six uncles, Willie McLean (Doris) of Raeford, NC, Johnny Scurlock (Evelyn), Isaiah Scurlock, Henry Scurlock all of Lumber Bridge, NC, Harley Scurlock of Englewood, OH and Rodney Jackson of Durham, NC; and a host of cousins and friends.
